Scheduling an Appointment
Appointments are required for all patient visits including free pregnancy tests and consultations. Same day appointments for the pregnancy tests are usually available. The office opens at 9:30 AM. Call (310) 247-8745
If you have any medical problems please mention them to the counselor when you schedule your appointment.
On the Day of Your Surgery
Do not eat or drink anything for 8 hours before your appointment except any medication which was prescribed by Dr. Seletz or by your own physician. Medications can be taken on schedule with a tiny sip of water.
You must have someone available to drive you home. If you need to come by yourself, inform the staff when you schedule that you will need to leave in a taxi. If you are coming in for a consultation only then you may eat before you come in and you may drive yourself. In consideration of the comfort and privacy of all of our patients, only one adult escort per patient can stay in the waiting room. No children can be admitted. Your escort may drop you off. We will call them when you are ready to leave.
What To Expect
Expect to be in the office about 2 hours even though the abortion only takes 20 minutes. We need to obtain information about your health, counsel you about the
details, and allow time for you to rest after the procedure. Do not schedule any work, classes, or other commitments on the day of your procedure. You will be able to return to work or school the following day. You may go out to eat or see a movie after you leave the office as long as someone else is driving you.
Please be prepared to make full payment before the procedure.
Pre Abortion Visit
Consultation with the doctor a few days before the procedure is recommended if you are unsure about your decision because of concerns that you have a high-risk pregnancy, issues about drug exposure during this pregnancy, paternity issues so we can arrange appropriate testing or consultation about having a procedure and just to meet the doctor. Consultation is especially recommended before second and third trimester abortions and we need prenatal records and perinatology reports faxed to us if the abortion will be done for a fetal abnormality. If you are coming from far away we will schedule a phone consultation for you to speak to the doctor after we receive your medical records.
Some bleeding and cramping are normal after an abortion at any stage of pregnancy. We will provide you and your escort detailed instructions on what to expect and when you should call after your procedure. You will be provided with prescriptions for all and any medication that is recommended.
